In the present days, one can observe an alienation of the society per se and implicitly the lack of exteriorization of human feelings in the majority of human interactions. One can argue whether this phenomenon is due to the strong rationalization process of the post modern society or due to an emotional overprotective constraint from the mind.
A very interesting case one should analyze is the one of the Hungarian society. The population of Hungary is less than ten million and it can be characterized by a strong pessimism and also a very high suicidal rate. On a worldwide range only the population of Finland is said to have registered higher suicidal rates. In addition, Hungarian people are known for the famous song writer, Seress Rezs?, who has written a song entitled “Gloomy Sunday” which has been translated in many languages and a part of many suicidal love quotes and sung by many famous singers. The point is, at the time of the appearance of the song – somewhere around the Second World War – and the following years, there were a very high number of people who committed suicide right after listening to the notorious song.
Now, the evolution of the Hungarian society which has also undergone several decades of communism until our present days was spectacular and contradictory in the same time. The winner of the national selection for the Eurovision 2012 was a band called Compact Disco with their song entitled “Sound of our hearts”. Supposing that the entire population of Hungary voted to choose the best song to represent them at this high class European song festival, one could say Hungarian people follow their hearts. Moreover, if one analyzes the moves the Hungarian society made in the years 1960, one can say that they followed their heart to obtain a communism with much milder conditions than any other country in the eastern European region. Using demonstrations as a main tool to express oneself (as one could follow in the news for the last two years), one can conclude that rational thinking and reasoning is by far the characteristic of the Hungarian people.
Unfortunately, the politicians take advantage of this psychological characteristic of the Hungarian population when it comes to making propaganda with inspirational quotes. They are fully aware that the mind is not he means to get a vote from the people analyzed in the case study of the current article.
